Got a new belt for my Spx today, the old one is to short, of course this new one is too long and unusable...
I'm trying to get my head around if running the too short belt is dangerous or not.
Obviously I'll get a shitty range with the belt stopping halfway up the variator, but should I worry about breaking the crank?
At first I thought it was a recipe for disaster, but then I started thinking about launch levers and how they kinda "simulates" a too short belt - it would be like keeping a firm foot on the lever all the time.
Running light rollers is probably a good idea.
Any advice here? Keep in mind that my bike has a hard mounted engine and an idler wheel tensioning the belt, no swinging engine action with pulleys hitting each other.
I'm getting the right belt, just want to start playing with it until then.
