I was thinking about ways to build up a race fairing that wouldn't cost me $300. I was thinking either that maybe my friend who has a set of race fairings would let me make a paper mache mold of them. Then coat the papermache with some sort of non stick paint or resin. Then lay fiberglass and resin on top of the mold in layers until I have my own fairing.
I was thinking I could also make a mold from scratch this way but it would be a lot more difficult and would require a lot of planning.
Anyone ever fucked around with making there own fiberglass parts here want to offer up their expertise? I did some research and think that standard fiberglass mat and polyester resin is the cheapest and easiest method but I would like to hear if there are better options.
