Hacking Proma NC50 (no replies)

Hey guys, I just got this proma circuit exhaust in the mail and I'm looking for solutions on how to get the header to fit to the stock cylinder of an '81 Express NC50. I've heard that if you take an inch off you can bolt it on, which I'll check tomorrow when I take the rear tire off. What other solutions should I pursue if that fails to work? Apparently welding the stock header on works, but does that effect performance in any significant way? Finally, I lack the tools and experience to weld; is it as simple as going to a shop and letting them know what you want welded on? (I fear the angle would be different and it would mount incorrectly afterwards.) Thanks for your help in advance
