Upgrades are:

HPI Ignition set to 2mm btdc
mlm sidebleed
95 main jet
stock pilot jet
needle 2nd to the bottom
boyseen reeds
vm18 + intake
malossi 70cc
puch hihi compression, milled for qt50

I also have a trailtech temp gauge.

When I got this thing put together a few days ago it ripped amazingly. I was running 100 octane. Ran out, I filled up with pump gas, 40:1 oil ratio, and right away it ran very strange. Not smooth and overheated fast. I ideally want to run 91 octane so I tried to rejet it and get it to run, but could only get it to run decent when set waaaay to lean, and I accidentally soft seized. Looked at the cylinder, looked ok, piston looked ok. With pump gas I got the jet up to 110, but after the soft sieze I emptied the gas tank and went and got 100 octane and put everything back to where it was before I put pump gas in it.

Could. not. get it to run like it did before I put the 91 in it. temps through the roof right away, another soft seize. Checked my timing, looked good, cleaned the carb, checked the cylinder again, so on so forth. Took it out again, up to 400 right away, soft seize. I'm going to get my cylinder honed and grab a new piston just in case but does anyone have any idea on how I can get this thing to run for more than a block without getting to 400 degrees? It was 78 degrees outside today, not asking to much I dont think.

I'm baffled because I ran through that first tank of 100 octane and that bike ran absolutely beautifully. I could hold WOT for a mile and it would get to 370, had amazingly responsive throttle throughout the entire throttle. Now my mid throttle has two settings: So lean your gonna blow it up, or so rich it wont run.

I'm ready to give up on this thing
