While waiting for a new exhaust to arrive, I drilled out the rivets in the old one (I believe it's a Techno "Bullet") to see if it was clogged up back there. The packing material was just a oil and water soaked bunch of shit - mud, but with a slight fibrous quality to it... I thought, "cool - it was clogged up - maybe it will run better now!". But upon further inspection, the central pipe runs all the way into the expansion chamber with no obstruction, and then straight out the tail end. It's got a bunch of holes in it looking out to the mud filled chamber, but the mud certainly wasn't restricting the exhaust flow.
So what, exactly, is that fiberglass stuff supposed to accomplish?
